What Is Arimidex – Astra Zeneca (Anastrozole) ?
Astra Zeneca arimidex is a well-known anti-estrogen drug. It is manufactured by Astra-zeneca and contains 28/1mg tablets of Anastrozole.
Anastrozole is considered to be an effective drug for those male bodybuilders who use steroid in their cycles due to its ability to combat excess estrogen level. Almost all of anabolic steroids has an effects on estrogen level of the body. Increased estrogen level makes it possible to be faced with gynecomastia which leads to breast enlargement in males. At this point, Anastrozole blocks the estrogen receptors. In other words, it will limit the gynecomostia concern as a side effect of anabolic steroids. Mainly because of this effect it is considered as an post cycle drug to overcome the negative effects of steroid used cycles.

It is recommended to the bodybuilders using to it to begin taking the drug the day after their cycles. A dosage of .5 to 1 mg a day (a half tablet a day) would result in sufficient estrogen level throughtout the cycle.

Anastrozole, better known by its trade name Arimidex, is an inhibitor of estrogens synthesis. As an aromatase inhibitor it can significantly minimize estrogen levels. While tamoxifen and clomiphene only block estrogen receptors, anastrozole prevents the conversion of testosterone.
When Should Anastrozole Be Used ?
Anastrozole is an important supplement for many bodybuilders who use steroids such as testosterone and Dianabol, or for those whose body is particularly predisposed and susceptible to estrogens effects (the endomorph type and those who can develop juvenile gynecomastia). Indeed, as previously said it acts by blocking the enzyme aromatase, subsequently blocking the production of estrogen in the body (Arimidex has a 75-85% aromatization inhibition rate). This in turn prevents excessive estrogenic side effects during AAS use and helps developing a harder musculature for competitive bodybuilders.
Stacking 10-30 mg of Nolvadex with 1.0 mg of Arimidex has been reported to lead to almost no estrogen activity. However, keep in mind that some estrogens levels are required in order for some AAS to reach their full potential. Remember that estrogens play a role in stimulating the production of luteinizing hormone (LH), which, in turn, will stimulate testosterone production. They can also participate in the correction of lipid levels in the blood after a cycle, a point where anastrozole is not involved.
Arimidex has a very short active-life so 0.5 mg dosages can be taken 2 times daily or more at equal intervals.
Generally, it takes a week to the drug to make full effect. What is interesting is that anastrozole can be used in a cycle or in recovery: an elevation of testosterone levels up to 58% has been asserted when using Anastrozole as a testosterone booster.
Directly following an AAS cycle, the dosage will be reduced from a higher starting dosage to a low dosage to be continued for 7-14 days after AAS discontinuance.
Is Anastrozole Safe?
Yes, although there could be some side effects for some people. For example, its use may increase liver enzymes, so people taking other hepatotoxic drugs should remember it. Then, the risk of bone fractures increases somewhat as the protective role of estrogen is no longer present. A phenomenon called “shin splints” occurs frequently.
